17th March 2020
Following the Government’s guidance press conference this week and due to the increased threat of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Bishop Auckland Town Team have made the difficult decision to cancel our planned events over the next couple of months.
It is clear that COVID-19 will still be very active within our communities during April and May so we feel it is the most responsible action to cancel these public events to protect visitors, traders and our volunteers from the spread of the virus.
The Town Team events cancelled are the Easter Eggstravaganza due to be held on Saturday 11th April and the VE 75th Anniversary on Saturday 9th May.
In addition the full Town a Team public meeting due to be held on Thursday 21st May will also be cancelled.
This is an extremely difficult decision to make and appreciate the disruption and disappointment these cancellations may cause, but at this time of uncertainty the protection of public health is paramount.
We all have a responsibility to keep each other safe and this is particularly important right now. Please take care of yourselves and check on vulnerable others.
We will continue to monitor the situation and we will make any updates in due course.
Bishop Auckland Town Team would like to thank the members of the public, traders, performers and sponsors for their understanding during this period of uncertainty and what is an unprecedented situation.
