Now that the lockdown restrictions have come to an end, the Bishop Auckland Town Team volunteers are now planning a number of events to help bring footfall back into the town.
The first event will be ‘Buses Thru The Ages’ and will take place on Sunday 15th August in Bishop Auckland Market Place from 10am will 4pm.
The event will be in partnership with The North East Bus Preservation Trust and will feature a selection of classic buses on display including United, OK Motor Services, The Eden and Lockeys.
Peter Elliot from the NEBPT said; “There will be 2 vintage buses doing FREE tours of the town. One of the buses will leave the Market Place and go via the Bus Station, along Newgate Street to the Train Station. The other bus will leave the Market Place and travel through Cockton Hill, Tindale Crescent, St Helens Auckland and to the old Eden Bus Garage in West Auckland. These free tours will run throughout the day, donations can be accepted on-board.”
Clive Auld, Chair of the Events Team, added; “It’s great that we can now get back to organising events for the people of the town. During the lockdown the team were meeting regular on ZOOM to keep in touch with each other and now that the restrictions have ended we want to get back to what we do best, putting on great popular events.”
