On Saturday 9th June 2018, the Bishop Auckland Town Team held it’s first ever 1940s event.
Around 2,200 people attended and enjoyed the entertainment throughout the day which included The Fenner Sisters, Jenna Highfield and the Sound Waves Community Choir.
The Sandra Welsh School of Dance performed a couple of 40s dance routines and the Bishop Auckland Theatre Society took to the stage to rein-act a couple of scenes from their wartime 1942 production of ‘Put That Light Out’.
BELOW – Vintage vocalist Yvonne Slater kept the party going in The Merry Monk and sang some classic 40’s sing-a-long songs including ‘Rule Britannia’ and ‘Land of Hope and Glory.’
BELOW – Yvonne then performed some of the classic 1940s hits including ‘Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye’ and ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary!’ at the Fifteas Vintage Tearooms.
The Bishop Auckland Town Team volunteers would like to thank all the performers and entertainers, the military vehicles and the food and market traders.
