Since 2012, the Bishop Auckland Town Team have brought Santa Claus to Bishop Auckland each December.
This year has seen a record number of 612 children come to see Santa over the 3 Saturdays. It all began in the King’s Cafe & Retail (77 Newgate Street) on Saturday 8th December before two sessions inside the Newgate Shopping Centre on the 15th and 22nd December.
It was Free for the children to see Santa and there was an opportunity for a 6″ x 4″ colour photo printed straight away. Unfortunately during the final day, due to the popularity we sold out of the 500 festive frames we ordered.
In addition to Santa, Bishop The Boar made a special appearance and there was some festive entertainment from the Sound Waves Community Choir, vocalists Steven Berry and Charlotte Forman and the Salvation Army.
Festive stilt walkers, Rudolph and Free face painting also entertained the shoppers.
The Bishop Auckland Town Team would like to thank everyone who has supported us and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
