As the summer season comes to an end, the Bishop Auckland Town Team are busy organising the return of ‘Bishop Celebrating Together‘.
The weekend all kicks off on Friday 27th September with the Full Moon Street Food Market. In conjunction with Durham Markets Company and The Asian Project people can enjoy the very best street food along with some live music from 4pm till 9pm.
From 10am on Saturday there will be a variety of singers and performers on the main stage including Ami Leigh Boorman, Bradley Thompson, Jenna Highfield, Steven Berry, Sandra Welsh School of Dance and Runaway Samba performed by Jack Drum Arts.
Clive Auld, Chair of the Events Team said; “Along with the entertainment there will be a grassed play area with giant toys and games for the children, FREE face painting, children rides and the Town Team mascot ‘Bishop The Boar’ will be making guest appearances throughout the day.
He added; “The North East Bus Preservation Trust will be bringing some vintage busses and offering free tours of the town throughout the day and there will be a selection of local street market traders and stalls.”
In addition, the Bishop Auckland Town Council will be holding their annual Horticultural and Produce show in the old McIntyres shop (25 Newgate Street) and the Newgate Shopping Centre from 12pm till 3pm. Children can join in with ‘Kids Corner’ where they can bring along their wonky fruit and vegetables, design a poster or paint a picture of the favourite garden wildlife.
Lee Brownson said; “Once the entertainment finishes in the Market Place there’s an opportunity to finish the night off with a 80s and 90s party in The Merry Monk. The weekend is all about celebrating everything about the town with live music, entertainment, great food, activities and lots of fun!”
