One of the Bishop Auckland Town Team’s most popular events has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Chair of the Town Team, Nigel Bryson said; “It is with deep regret and a very heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of Bishop Celebrating Together which was due to take over the weekend of 25/26th September.
As you will understand, we have given a huge amount of thought and consideration as to how we could safely organise and deliver this popular annual event, but given the risks to the public, performers and production team, the events team volunteers have reached the conclusion that the show cannot go ahead this year.”
Clive Auld added; “We understand that many of you will be very disappointed by this news however we are continuing to monitor the Government regulations and guidance on large public events and we hope to bring you the Halloween event Monster Saturday at the end of October and our Christmas entertainment in December.”
Despite not been allowed to hold their own events some of the town team volunteers have been providing support at the Bishop Auckland Fellowship of Christian Churches outdoor service on a Sunday afternoon in the North Bondgate Car park, helped promote all the Bishop Auckland shops and businesses that are participating in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme and organised wooden pallets for the Cultivate 4 Life project.
