On Saturday 1st December, the 2018 Bishop Auckland Advent Windows got underway with the 1st window unveiling taking place at the new Auckland Tower in Bishop Auckland Market Place.
Organiser David Pott started by thanking the volunteers on the Bishop Auckland Town Team, Innovations and Taylored Signs for helping to make the new frame. He also thanked the funders, Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP and Seedbed.
David began the 10-1 countdown then Jane Ruffer and Santa Claus carried out their official duties.
Jane Ruffer said; “What a wonderful display which depicts Mary, Joesph and the Angel Gabriel. Well done and thank everyone associated with St Wilfrid’s Primary School who helped to create the beautiful window display we now have here in the tower.”
David Pott added; “The inclement weather meant that we had to relocate inside The Auckland Tower, but it proved to be a wonderful venue, with an excellent first window display from St Wilfred’s School. It was a very joyful and positive occasion.”
The children from St Wilfrid’s RCVA Primary School then read part of the story from The Annunciation Luke 1:26-38 before singing the song ‘The Angel Gabriel comes to Mary”.
