The first ever Bishop Auckland Advent Windows ended in style on Saturday 23rd December with a carol singing walk through the town and the final two window unveilings.
The project was an idea brought to the Town Team earlier this year by David and Pam Pott who had done this elsewhere in the country. With a successful funding application from the County Durham Community Foundation the event took place during December with the first window revealed at the annual Bishop Auckland Town Council Christmas event.
Schools and community groups from across the Bishop Auckland area got involved by designing and creating an display for 24 shop windows throughout the town. Each day during December the windows were revealed and a carol or song was sung.

In addition the Bishop Auckland Town Team delivered another popular Christmas entertainment line-up on the Saturday’s during December.
Santa Claus was the main attraction where hundreds of children saw and had photos taken with him. Shoppers enjoyed festive music from Stephen Berry, Escalibur and the Sound Waves Community Choir.
The Sandra Welsh School of Dance performed and children could have their faces painted for free.
